FJ ambassador Matteo Manassero made history this weekend by winning the Castello Masters at the Club de Campo del Mediterraneo, Spain. At 17 years and 188 days old the Italian teenager beat the previous record set by the winner of the 2008 Johnnie Walker Championship who was 18 years and 113 days.

"I am too young to have a drink, I am too young to drive so I will not be buying a car and I have not got a girlfriend who would like a present," he said.

"But this was my first chance to win a tournament, which I never thought would come so quickly and to do it is unbelievable. My first aim when I turned professional was to win enough money to keep my card for next year and I achieved that in September."

The teenage sensation began the day two shots behind fellow FJ shoe and glove wearer Gary Boyd (FJ ICON & StaSof glove), but Manaserro pilled on the pressure as the tournament approached its climax. The 2009 Amateur Champion made three birdies in a row from the 13th to take a two shot lead which he never looked like giving up, finally finishing on 16 under, four clear of his nearest competitor Ignacio Garrido (SYNR-G & StaSof).

Manassero wore FJ Sport shoes and StaSof glove en route to the first place prize of €333,330. FJ was again the shoe of choice by the majority of this week’s field with 63% lacing up in FJ shoes.
